What is Radon?

You can’t see, smell, or taste radon, but it still may be a problem in your home. When you breathe air containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer. In fact, the Surgeon General of the United States has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States today. If you smoke and your home has high radon levels, your risk of lung cancer is especially high. You can’t predict radon levels based on state, local, and neighborhood radon measurements. Don’t rely on radon test results taken in other homes in the neighborhood to estimate the radon level in your home. Homes which are next to each other can have different indoor radon levels. Testing is the only way to find out what your home’s radon level is.~ From the EPA Home Buyers Guide.

Radon Measurement

We are Certified to Measure Radon. The EPA recommends testing your home every 2 years for radon, and to Mitigate if it’s higher than 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter). We test to diagnose the need to install a radon mitigation system. Due to Conflict of interest we do not test our own Systems. A test will be supplied to you to perform and send off, or refer you to a local certified radon measurement professional to test our work.

Radon Mitigation/Abatement

We design and install different types of radon Mitigation systems with appearance, noise, and function in mind.

Just to name a few ways it can be done…

  • Sub-Slab Depressurization is vacuum applied to 1 or more pits under the concrete slab to extract radon gas.

  • Sub-Membrane Depressurization is when the crawlspace is encapsulated with plastic membrane to seal the open earth allowing for a vacuum to extract radon.

  • Sump Depressurization is a vacuum applied to an existing sump which draws radon from beneath the building.

  • Activating a Passive Radon system. If you have a New radon resistant home that has a passive system installed, and the radon is testing high, we can activate it.

We Stand Behind Our Work

It’s all about quality. We stand by the craftmanship of our systems for 10 years. Exceptions include: the fan which has it’s own warranty, and modifications or changes to the home that were not present at the time of installation.
